This is a newly made fretless banjo with a 9.25" red cedar drumhead. The neck is mahogany and has tulip wood fret marker inlays and mother of pearl dot position markers on the front. The tuning pegs are all geared. The vibrating string length is 23.5"; the overall length is 32". The pot is a simple hoop with walls 1/4" thick made from a section of industrial mailing tube painted black. This is light and sturdy.
This is a wonderfully light weight instrument because it doesn't have any hardware around the drum. The wooden drumhead also makes for a softer, mellow sound. This would make a great traveling instrument--you could practice in your hotel room and not bother too many people. Currently stung with medium gauge metal banjo strings.
