Orininally designed to be built by 5th grade students, the simplicity dulcimer kit can easily be assembled in 90-120 minutes. No sharp or unusual tools are needed. All parts are precut and standard metal frets are pre-installed in the solid mahogany fretboard. Kits include photo-illustrated directions, extra strings, pick, noter, and 4 mil rain bag. You will need a hammer, Phillips head screwdriver, and pliers or wire cutters.
Kits do not include liquids: you will need latex paint for the soundbox, Elmer's glue, and you may wish to finish the fretboard with a furniture oil, stain, and/or paste wax.
The soundbox is made of strong corrugated cardboard, usually painted to add protection from moisture. If you would like us to pre-paint your soundbox for you, select barn red, teal green, or blue from the "Dulcimer extras" link below.
