School and Group Prices

Many of our instrument kits are assembled in schools, camps, elder hostels, and similar group settings. We have designed and prepared the kits to be quickly and easily assembled by amateur builders using a few common tools. Prices below were current in January, 2023.

You may mix and match to reach the totals.  For example, an order for two banjos, two dulcimers, and two dulcimer kits qualifies for the 6 or more price on each of these items. Quantity-discounted orders will be packed in bulk with a single copy of assembly directions, unless you choose the Semi Bulk Shipping option explained below.

The prices below are available to institutions using purchase orders and to individuals buying multiple kits and paying with one check. If paying for a quantity discount order by charge card, please add 3% to the total amount to cover our processing expenses.

Our website shopping cart does not handle bulk orders at these discounted prices.  To order 6 or more kits or instruments, send us an email message via the "Contact us" feature on the website or call us at 860-771-0820 . If you reach our voice mail, please tell us when you would like to receive the order, the shipping address, your name, and telephone numbers where you can be reached during business hours and in the evening when we prefer to return calls.  In the tables below:
  • Ready to play means instruments are painted/finished, strung and tuned. (You will need to  fine tune before playing).  Colors are barn red, teal green, merlot (purple) and blue.  Barn red will be sent if no color is specified. Unpainted is an option if you specify it.
  • String it yourself means instruments are assembled, painted/finished, and accompanied by strings and instructions for putting these strings on the instrument;
  • Workshop-ready kits have cardboard already painted, and wood pieces have been sanded and finished. You avoid messy operations, drying time, and the need to procure paint and wood finish.  Final assembly requires common tools and glue you provide. (The workshop-ready harp kit comes with the 3 piece wooden frame assembled and hardware-ready.)
  • Kit means pre-cut kits ready to assemble.  These are prepainted only if you have ordered that extra service.  The wooden parts of kits will need sanding and finishing with furniture oil, polyurethane or similar product (we use Watco natural oil).  You will need to glue parts together using glue you provide (we use Elmer's white glue.)

Shipping charges for group orders (allow two weeks for delivery):

Shipping:  $8 handling fee plus shipping at cost (in the continental US, $2 to $6 per banjo or dulcimer, $10 to $50 per harp).

Semi-bulk packing, $1.50 per kit additional charge.  Prices above are for bulk orders  packed with only one copy of the assembly directions, and all parts in bulk.  They are intended for workshops where all the kits will be built in one place, under the guidance of a leader.  If multiple kits are ordered to be divided among individuals, we suggest Semi-Bulk packing.  Semi-Bulk orders include individual parts bags and multiple copies of the assembly instructions.
