Our basic 5-string banjo is all you need to start playing this traditional American instrument. The basic banjo has a 9.25" diameter hoop of painted mailing-tube cardboard, 18 frets, and a hardwood bridge. The fretboard is solid Nicaraguan Mahogany. String length is 23.5", only slightly shorter than a standard banjo. (For you experienced banjo players, this means the scale intervals are sized as if you were playing with a capo on the second fret of a standard 5-string banjo.) All tuning pegs have gears for easy tuning. Overall length is 32". Weight 2 lbs. We use medium gauge metal banjo strings; the basic banjo can be tuned to standard G and C tunings. It can also tune up one note to play in keys of A and D.
Available accessories include: an armrest or armrest kit , a padded gig bag, a capo, and a set of extra strings.
